PINTADO |
A native species from the Pantanal, Pintado received this name due to its black speckled grey and white skin. It has a typical shovel nosed head, its meaty body is elongated, and catches of up to 100 kg have been reported. It has a nocturnal habit, predates other fish and it is generally found in the deepest parts of rivers.
The flesh is lightly cream colored, and its fishbone-free tasty meat assures a high market value for this species. It is one of the most valued freshwater fish.
With Pintado you can prepare a Brazilian typical dish: barbecued pintado, a real fish barbecue. But it can also be broiled, fried, cooked, and becomes a delicacy when smoked.

PACU |
The Pantanal is also home to the Pacu, with an is oval and flat body. The largest Pacu may measure up to 50 cm and weigh 15 kg, but it usually weighs up to 8 kg. It eats fruit, seeds, roots, insects and small shellfishes found in nature. Pacu (5th sentence): This fish is very tasty and it can be roasted or broiled; and its head makes for a delicious stew. Charboiled Pacu ribs are a success in restaurants, with its crunchy outside, soft inside and with an irresistible taste.

TILAPIA |
Originally from the Nile, introduced in Brazil during the early 1950s, Tilapia has a flat silver body, sometimes with pinkish reflections. It is a much appreciated fish for its pleasant taste and flexibility for preparation. It can be found in different sizes; small tilapias can be fried as a whole.
Today, it is becoming more popular with the Brazilian consumer and it is currently one of the most sold items in the retail network. |

PIRARUCU |
It is a tropical species of naturals habitats of the Amazonia river, found in lakes of the marginal of these rivers and could be considered worth genetic of Brazil, with high importance ecologically and economically. One of the largest freshwater fish, sweet, reaching up to 350 kg. The Arapaima (Arapaima gigas) has enormous commercial potential, due to its abundant meat, almost thornless and low in fat. Its habitat is the dark waters calm Amazonia not being found in areas of strong currents and water-rich sediments having great diversity of habits and behaviors food. |

TAMBAQUI |
The color is usually brown on the top half and black on the bottom half of the body. The tambaqui can reach 90 cm in total length. Formerly caught specimens up to 45 kg. Found in the Amazon basin, migratory species, conducts reproductive migration and dispersion. During the flood season enters the flooded forest, where it feeds on fruits or seeds. During dry season, individuals are young in floodplain lakes where they feed on zooplankton and adults flock to the rivers of muddy water to spawn. At that time, not eating, living off the fat that accumulates during the flooding season. It is one of the most important commercial species in central Amazonia. |
